Cigarette smoking kills 307,000 people in the United States each year. Lung cancer and emphysema are the best known and most miserable outcomes. However, accelerated development of atherosclerosis is numerically the most important problem resulting from smoking. This results in heart attacks and strokes, angina pectoris (heart pains), intermittent claudication (leg pains), and many other problems. Pipe and cigar smoking does not have the pulmonary (lung) consequences that cigarette smoking does, but can lead to cancer of the lips, tongue and esophagus. Nicotine in any form has the same bad effects on the small blood vessels and thus on development of atherosclerosis.

It is never too late to quit. Only two years after stopping cigarette smoking, your risk of heart attack return to average. It has actually decreased substantially the very next week! Most people have plenty of time to get major health benefits. After 10 years, your risk to for lung cancer is back to nearly normal. After nearly two years, there is a decrease in lung cancer risk by perhaps one-third. The development of emphysema is arrested for many people when they stop smoking, although this condition does not reverse.

Moreover, you will notice at once that your environment has become more friendly when you are not a smoker. A lot of the daily hassles that impair the quality of your life go away when you stop offending others by this habit.

Here are some tips for quitting: decide firmly that you really want to do it. You need to believe that you can do it. Set a date on which you will stop smoking. Announce this date to your friends. When the day comes, stop. You can expect that the physical addiction to nicotine may make you nervous and irritable for a period of about 48 hours. After that, there is no further physical addiction. There is, of course psychological craving that sometimes lasts a very long period of time. Often, however it is quite short. Reward yourself every week or so and buy something nice with what would have been cigarette money. Combine your stop-smoking program with an increase in your exercise program. The two changes fit together naturally. Exercise will take your mind off the smoking change, and it will decrease the tendency to gain weight in he early weeks after stopping smoking; this is the only negative consequence of stopping. The immediate rewards include better-tasting food, truer friends, less cough, better stamina, more money, fewer holes in your clothes, and membership in a larger world.

Many health educators are skeptical about cutting down slowly and stress that you need to stop completely. I don’t think this is always true. For some people, rationing is a good way to get their smoking down to a much lower level and then at that point it may be easier to stop entirely. For example, the simple decision not to smoke in public can help your health and decrease your hassles. To cut down, only keep in cigarette pack those cigarettes that you are going to allow yourself that day. Smoke the cigarettes half way down before extinguishing them.

There are many good stop-smoking courses being offered through the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, or your local hospital. Most people actually don’t need these, but if you do, they can help you be successful. Try by yourself first. Then, if you still need help, there is a lot of it around.

Nicotine chewing gum can help some people quit, and your doctor can give you a prescription and advice. Don’t plan on this as a long term solution because nicotine is the gum is just as bad for your arteries as the nicotine in cigarette.

An example of your ability to make your own choices is afforded by the challenge to stop smoking. If you are trapped by your addictions, even the lesser ones, you can’t make your own choices. Victory over smoking improves your mental health, in part because this is a difficult victory. It can open the door to success in other areas.

This is a confusing area, with many products. To simplify, consider only two major categories of cough medication: “expectorants” and “cough suppressants.” The expectorants are usually preferable because they liquefy the secretions and allow the body’s defenses to get rid of the material. Cough suppressants should be avoided if the cough is bringing up any material or if there is lot of mucus. In the late stages of cough, when it is dry and hacking, compounds containing a suppressant may be useful. We prefer compounds that do not contain an antihistamine because the drying effect on the mucus can harm as much as help.

Reading the Labels

Glyceryl guaiacolate, potassium iodide, and several other frequently used chemicals cause an expectorant action. Cough-suppressant action comes principally from narcotics, such as codeine. Over-the-counter cough suppressants cannot contain codeine. They often contain dextromethrophan hydrobromide, which is not a narcotic but is a close chemical relative. Many commercial mixtures contain a little of everything and may have the some of the ingredients of the cold compounds as well.

More health problems come from non-fatal diseases than from fatal ones. Prevention of these problems is critical o your ability to live as well and as long as you can. You probably noticed that even potentially fatal diseases (like atherosclerosis) cause most of their problems by non-fatal complications such as angina, pectoris, non-fatal heart attacks, non-fatal strokes, intermittent claudication, and congestive heart failure. Accident cause many more sever and lasting disabilities than they do deaths.

There are many additional disease conditions that are seldom, if ever, fatal but that cause immense pain and suffering. For example, osteoarthritis and related syndromes cause nearly one-half of the physical symptoms reported by older individuals. Little attention has been paid to prevention of these diseases. Yet, prevention is possible to nearly the same degree as with the fatal diseases. Secondary prevention of these conditions, after symptoms have begun, is often more difficult, preventive measure won’t always work completely, but the markedly improve your predicted chances. They will nearly always help to some extent. By working to prevent problems from these conditions, you can strikingly improve symptom levels and the quality of life.

The delicate hearing apparatus in the middle ear (and the eardrum itself) becomes stiffer with age, causing gradual loss of hearing in almost all individuals, with loss of high-tone hearing occurring before loss of lower tone hearing. Loss of hearing obviously makes communication makes more difficult. Equally important, hearing loss decreases the input that you need to make your memory and thinking work well. Many problems that are written of as “senility” turn out only to be problems with hearing loss.

Prevention

There is no known way to prevent the occurrence of hearing loss (although once in a while the problem is only wax buildup in the ear canals). However, hearing aids and devices, which restore hearing to essentially normal levels, are readily available. Your task is to be sensitive to any loss of hearing and to take up the corrective measures early. Otherwise, a whole series of unnecessary problems of communication and apparent loss of intellect can result, and the quality of your life will be less than it should be.

When it comes to buy a car stereo system, the most important thing that comes in mind is what functionality your system features. Other main issues are your budget and what kind of music you want to listen. If you really don’t want to spend a big amount on an expensive stereo system, and you don’t want all kinds of flashy animations, screen savers and other luxury options that you really don’t need. However, the car stereo should at least feature an LCD display to show the tracks text, numbers and equalizer. You should be look for a CD deck or car stereo system with a minimum of 3-band equalizer to easily adjust the bass, middle and treble levels to modify the sound to figure out the style of your music.

This is only my view but I feel that a luxury car audio system should have a powerful head/main unit that either has a MP3/CD player and/or is connected to a good CD changer in the trunk. A good car stereo system sounds well when playing CDs, tapes and it don’t cut the music and rupture the flow of sound. Next I think speakers should install with fewer compromises than coaxial speakers so I recommend a good quality midrange tweeter set for the front. Main units of the car stereo system usually do not transmit sufficient sound power so you’ll need an amplifier to drive the component set in better way. In the back of the car where you only need some “sound fill up” for vibes and creating good sound you can install low priced coaxials and set their volume level lower than the front coaxials to keep the sound phase in front of the car. A modest (50×4) 4 channel amp is a good option here for powering the speakers at the front and the rear. You could use a good 2 channel amplifier and empower the front and back in parallel on the amp but it would more difficult to adjust the sound level between them.

Midrange speakers sound very good when they do not play bass so you will need a 2 way electronic intersect and use the high output to drive your 4 channel amplifier. I did not forget about bass, most people use to enjoy a single 10″ woofer or a pair of 12″s. Always use a right enclosure and a big amplifier. Then make installation and wiring the accessories like fuses and distribution blocks. If you are a little concerned about highs, get coaxials in front to replace the component set and power them off from the head unit and also use some bass blockers on them.

Coffee is a beverage that is commonly used all over the world. Coffee is prepared from the roasted seeds, normally known as beans of the coffee plants. Coffee was first used in the early 9th century, when it emerged in the highlands of Ethiopia. Coffee swell up to Egypt and Yemen and by the 15th century had reached Persia, Turkey, and northern Africa after the Ethiopia. After the Muslim countries coffee went to Italy, then to the other areas of Europe and America. The two most commonly available types of the coffee plant are Coffea canephora and C. arabica, which are grown in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. The coffee seeds are carefully roasted at temperatures around 200°C (392°F), during which the sugars in the bean caramelize, the bean changes color, and flavor develops. The coffee beans are roasted according to the desired flavor. Coffee beans are ground and brewed to make the beverage coffee.

Coffee’s role in different societies is very significant throughout the history. Coffee is used in holy ceremonies in Africa and Yemen. Coffee was prohibited in Ottoman Turkey in the 17th century. Today, trade in coffee has a huge economic value. Coffee is one of the world’s significant main commodities; in 2003, coffee was the world’s sixth-largest legal agricultural export in value. The health effects of coffee are uncertain, and lots of studies have observed the relationship between coffee consumption and certain medical conditions. Studies have recommended that the consumption of coffee lowers the risk of certain diseases but may have harmful effects as well, particularly when excessive. The Coffee plant belongs to a type of ten species of flowering plants of the family Rubiaceae. It is an evergreen plant or small tree that may grow up to 5 meters (16.40 ft) tall when unpruned.

The typical way of cultivating coffee is to put 20 seeds in each hole at the start of the rainy season; half are eliminated naturally. Coffee is often cultivated with food crops, such as corn, beans, or rice, during the first few years. There are two major cultivated kinds of the coffee plant, Coffea canephora and Coffea arabica. Some are concerned about obvious environmental matters with coffee cultivation. Originally, coffee farming was done in the shade of trees, which provided habitation for lots of animals and bugs. Increased use of fertilizer and pesticides and clearing of trees is necessary for sun cultivation. Coffee berries and their seeds go through multi-step processing before they become the roasted coffee with which most Western consumers are well-known. During roasting, caramelization takes place as the strong heat breaks down starches in the bean, changing them to simple sugars which initiate to brown, adding color to the bean.

Poker is basically a card game, in poker players have to cover cards and make wagers into a middle pot. Poker is an indoor game; it is played in the card rooms and in home as well. Poker was started almost in the end of the 19th century. According to the English media Poker is played by four players and 20 cards. Poker game is the crucial part of the culture of America and Britain. Poker became very popular in the Twenty first century. Online Poker tournaments and the conception of hole card camera give Poker game to everlasting life. The live coverage of Poker events and tournaments provide chance to other people to take part in the Poker Game from different regions of the world. The winner in the Poker is the person who holds the hand with the utmost value according to an established hand positions hierarchy, or otherwise the player who leftovers “in the hand” after all others have folded (a player who makes an un-called bet).

Poker has a number of variations, all following a related model of play. Depending on the alternative, hands may be twisted using cards which are hidden from others, or from a mixture of hidden cards and community cards. In casual game, the right to deal a hand generally spins among the players and is marked by a token known as ‘dealer’ button (or “buck”). In a nightclub or casino, a house dealer retains the cards for each hand, but the button (normally a white plastic disk) is turning around clockwise among the players to point out a supposed dealer to settle on the order of gambling. One or more players are required to make compulsory bets to make an early bet for which the players will confront. The dealer shuffles the cards, cuts, and deals the appropriate number of cards to the players one at a time. Cards may be dealt either face-up or face-down, depending on the poker being played. At any time throughout a betting round, if a gambler makes a bet, contestants are required to fold over, call or raise their cards. If one player bets and no opponents want to challenge the bet, the hand ends right away, the bettor is awarded the pot, no cards are needed to be shown, and the next hand starts. This opportunity of winning a pot without showing a hand makes bluffing feasible.

Bluffing is a major element of poker, one that differentiates it from other vying games and from other games that make use of poker hand rankings. At the end of the last betting round, if more than one player leftovers, there is an argument, in which the players show their previously hidden cards and evaluate their hands. The player with the maximum hand according to the poker rules being played wins the pot.
